Green Monday: If you are buying or thinking of buying a home, be weary of how much you spend

Today is Green Monday — what is Green Monday, you ask? Well, it’s not an eco-friendly version of anything. It’s the term used for the 2nd Monday of December by online retailers similar to that of Cyber Monday. Coined by Ebay, it yields their “best sales day in December.” There are predictions that this year’s Green Monday will trump last years numbers.

If you are currently purchasing a home or thinking about purchasing a home in the near future, beware of your spending during the holidays (or anytime of year, for that matter). Your income, debts and transactions from your credit/checking/savings accounts still affect your credit-worthiness and your ability to close on a home. Your best bet is to ask your lender/loan officer before you make that big purchase.
