The Raleigh-Durham area ranks as one of the best areas for entrepreneurs, according to Forbes.
The business magazine calls Research Triangle Park one of the “biggest success stories for public-private partnerships,” with more than 170 global companies that benefit from the universities both here in the immediate area and around the state.
The ranking comes as no surprise to those at the Research Triangle Foundation, which often touts the entrepreneurial spirit in the area. Indeed, some 79 percent of establishments in RTP have fewer than 100 employees; only 5 percent employ more than 1,000, according to the 2012 RTP Company Survey.
Forbes ranked only two other cities in the United States – Austin,Texas, and Richmond, Va.
