The American Physical Therapy Association calls Raleigh one of the 10 “fittest baby boomer cities” in the country, a ranking that was further validated on Sunday with the City of Oaks Marathon and Rex Healthcare Half Marathon.
Of the 5,000 runners who participated in the City of Oaks races, 823 of those were baby boomers, born between 1946-1964.
“I see an active group of baby boomers. …I see people who want to keep up with their kids, keep up with their grand kids, people who aren’t content with just celebrating birthdays. … They want to live a little bit and celebrate life,” Chris Hennie-Roed of the Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinictold News 14.
