Exclusive to Marti Hampton : Homeowner Comments and Thoughts
The first time we saw this house online, I knew it was special. The modern architecture, open plan and luxurious outdoor area reminded me of a spa!
The house was built by an architect (Randolph Zelov) for himself and he took care to design the house to have a functional flow that makes living in it easy. The architecture is modern and one of a kind. The finishes are high quality throughout the home including the Andersen Windows and Doors, real wood cabinetry in the kitchen, baths and built in entertainment center and desk, high grade granite, hardwood floors and wool carpeting. It has all the extras!
It is a unique property that can be used as a multi-generational home allowing for parents, grandparents and children to each have their own separate space. The lower level has 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and it’s own living area and office/exercise space which would be perfect for grandparents.
The main level has the master suite with in-suite bath, a formal living and dining room, a keeping/family room with built ins and a fireplace in each, breakfast nook and modern chef’s kitchen with gas stove, and dual ovens which looks out onto the infinity edge pool area.
The upper level has two bedrooms connected by a Jack and Jill bath and a large balcony that overlooks the pool area – perfect for the kids. A studio above the 3 car garage, with its own bath, completes the living spaces.
Plenty of private space for every generation to have their independence and yet come together in the common space when they want to.
The house is made for entertaining. The wall of windows in the living room and dining room with the tall ceilings and the wet bar are perfect for dinner parties. I recently had my oldest son’s wedding reception in the living room and had more than 40 people for dinner there. The pool and lounging area are also great venues for entertaining.
People have told me that this lot is the most beautiful piece of privately owned property in Wake County and we agree…walking the property is like having your own state park! The house is positioned on the lot at the highest point and situated to take full advantage of the views of nature. The property has two streams that flow through the 10 acres, one is perennial and the other runs year round. The bigger stream is called Dutchman’s Branch. The serenity and peacefulness of being secluded in the woods but having all the amenities of being close to the city is unique.
The house is very well maintained and looks like it is brand new. The improvements to the property that we have made are in excess of $100,000.
The 30,000 gallon infinity edge pool was just renovated using stacked stone and flagstone to enhance the natural beauty of the property. The waterfall feature spans 30 feet and provides the serenity of flowing water as you sit either outside on the screened porch or are lounging poolside. The pool was refinished in 2014 with premium Ocean Blue Pebbletec which is one of the strongest pool finishes in the industry and comes with a 15 year warranty on the finish.
The HVAC systems were redone this year to correct an issue with the original geothermal systems that were installed incorrectly. We purchased very high efficiency Heat Pumps that are under warranty (21 SEER).
I had a new well drilled on the property so there are now two functioning wells and we added a water filtration system to the house.
We had much of the landscape redone including clearing of the back yard area and planting of grass and plants. We also added fencing on the far boundary of the property.
Sitting in the house there is a deer run through the backyard area and we have had several fawns born out there and we see them almost every day.
The natural surrounds provide a great wildlife viewing area. We have large hawks that nest in the surrounding trees and they sometimes sit on the fence posts.
Who wouldn’t want an accessible Paradise on their own gorgeous and secluded private property?
Anyone who gets this house will be lucky. The serenity, privacy and amenities of the house will make you never want to leave but when you do, everything you need is within a few minutes drive.
In The Neighborhood
The house is close to Stevens Nature Center At Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve and the Town of Cary Capital Area Greenways trails. It is also close to the Historic Yates Mill County Park and very convenient to downtown Raleigh and all of the great restaurants there and cultural offerings including the Duke Energy Center for the performing arts, Redhat Amphitheater, and museums.
There is a Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s within a few minutes drive. Highway 1 is easily accessible as is RDU international airport and Research Triangle Park both about 20 minutes away. We go to Bad Daddy’s for burgers, Buku for Asian food and Centro for Mexican. These are all downtown Raleigh. For Barbeque we hit Danny’s BBQ which we think has the best BBQ around.
Here’s the best part: while still being close to Cary and Raleigh, this property is in Wake county and has NO city taxes!
