Why North Carolina Is the Vacation Spot You Need to See

Even though there are more reasons to visit North Carolina than I could count, I want to highlight a few of my favorite destinations here, and also give you a tip about selling your home during vacation season.

North Carolina is a truly wonderful vacation spot, and today I would like to give you some pointers about where to stop if you ever find yourself out this way. After that, I will give you an important tip about selling during vacation season.

One of the reasons that North Carolina is such a popular state to move to is that we have it all here—the pristine views of the coast and the mountains are just a short trip away from Raleigh.

I recently took a short trip down to New Bern to watch the fireworks from the docks. One of the best things about the area is that you can see all the history that it has to offer. Tryon Palace, for example, is a beautiful, historical place to visit.

One of my favorite discoveries is a brand-new restaurant that I highly recommend to all: Persimmons Waterfront Restaurant. It has gorgeous views, inside and outside dining, and the food is exquisite—truly some of the best food I have had in North Carolina.

Also, if you have some time, take a short trip down to Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina. It is known for having ample sailboats and shrimp boats to see, and while you are there, you can rent a bike and ride out to Brantley’s Seafood Restaurant. If you make it out on a Saturday night, you will have access to an unbelievably fresh seafood buffet. It is absolutely worth the trip.

Another destination worthy of your time is Blowing Rock. It’s about three hours away from Raleigh, but if you love mountain scenery, this is a stop for you. In the heart of this little town of Blowing Rock is the Village Cafe, which serves breakfast and lunch.

For fantastic dinner options, make a point to visit The Best Cellar in Blowing Rock. Or, if you feel like something fancier, stop by Artisanal Restaurant in Banner Elk, where you can sit outside by a babbling brook and enjoy some exquisite food.

A Selling Tip for Vacation Season:

When selling a home in North Carolina, do not put a home on the market in the peak of vacation season, which is the first week in July. This is one of the reasons we make a point to understand the timing of the market, and also one of the reasons we pre-list and pre-promote our listings—so we can give our sellers the very best exposure so they will have more eyes looking at their home when buyers go online. Be sure to check out the homes on our website for our Coming Soon listings.
