Our market is doing fantastic, but there are two mistakes I see some homeowners make when listing that are keeping them from earning top dollar.

In the Triangle area, we’re in an excellent market right now. It’s a great time to buy before supply dips and interest rates increase, and it’s a great time to sell.

However, I’m seeing some homeowners sacrifice their profit in one of two ways when they put their homes on the market.

The first is by selling to an online company that makes “hassle-free” offers. In other words, they offer to buy your home online without you having to hold any showings or anything like that. What homeowners who sell to these companies don’t understand is they’re only buying their homes so they can resell them. No matter what type of property, nobody buys a home in order to resell it without first having a profit plan in place. Essentially, these homeowners are giving away their profit to a middleman.

 

Your goal should be to get the best offer possible and make as much profit as you can.

 

Second, they’re attracted to discount brokers who have no market share. By this, I mean they choose to list with brokers who don’t market their home whatsoever or bring any buyers to the table.

Don’t make these same mistakes when listing your home. When you decide to sell, your goal should be to get the best offer possible and make as much profit as you can.
