Raleigh Ranks 3rd Best Place to Raise a Family in 2022 According to Rocket Homes

The Triangle in North Carolina continues to be one of the top areas in the United States to move this year and now has one of its cities ranking as one of the top areas for families. Raleigh, North Carolina ranked #3 on Rocket Homes’ list of the Best Places to Raise a Family for 2022.

North Carolina’s capital isn’t just a terrific spot to raise a family, it’s also one of the most promising cities in 2022. It has shown to have a lower property and violent crime rate than 95% of the country. Having this assurance gives local families the chance to feel more protected while out with the family or taking advantage of the area’s family-friendly amenities. Raleigh has some of the lowest childcare costs on the list with a yearly average cost of $10,560. It is also home to three top major universities. The University of North Carolina, Duke University and North Carolina State University all reside within the metro area and offer many work opportunities. The college town is an attraction for young professionals.

The metrics used to determine Raleigh’s ranking as one of the best places in the United States to raise a family include:

  • Average cost of childcare
  • Amenities for kids
  • Percent of households with children
  • Parks, playgrounds, and greenspaces
  • Increase in households with children

After analyzing the data, the team was able to determine the top 15 cities that showed the best metrics for the defined factors. The entire list included:

15. Des Moines, Iowa

The 150 largest metropolitan regions in the United States were studied in this study. Nearly three-quarters of all Americans (74%) live in these 150 metro regions. From this we discovered the metro areas that have a unique blend of factors when it comes to raising a family in this study. Metropolitan areas are especially valuable for our rankings since they encompass not just the major cities in each area, but also the surrounding counties, which include the suburbs.

The experts at BestPlaces.net gathered and analyzed data in seven key areas to provide insight into the resources available for raising a family. To deliver the most relevant insight, we choose indicators that are as recent and detailed as possible.
